CVMU (Central Vehicle Maintenance Unit) Team Leader

Salary: £32,849

  • We have a exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic Team Leader to help manage the vehicle maintenance service based at Layton Depot, Blackpool. The Team Leader will  oversee the mechanics undertaking the servicing, repairs and MOT’s/Taxi Testing in relation to Enveco and Blackpool Council’s vehicles and plant fleet. Liaising with parts suppliers. Responsible for the completed work and compliance with statutory/regulatory requirements of the Enveco and council fleets and CVMU workshop.
  • Essential skills: • Time served apprenticeship within the motor vehicle repair trade or equivalent. • Competent mechanic with a minimum of 5 years recent experience of vehicle repair and maintenance. • Knowledge of working in a workshop environment and the associated materials to be used, together with a thorough understanding of the specific trade, “time served craftsman”. • Class B Licence (Car) • MOT tester • LGV LICENCE • NVQ 4 / C&G level 2 and 3 or equivalent. This will include knowledge of specific techniques, such as welding but also including computer diagnostics. • Knowledge of vehicles and equipment to include their operation. Includes the Council fleet, private MOT customers, taxis’ etc. • Knowledge of road traffic legislation and safety requirements for the Council’s fleet. • Need to be numerate to calculate correct resources, which will include the design, manufacture and production of bespoke solutions. For example, fabrication. • Taxi testing and enforcement certification. • Understanding of VOSA test specification for HGVs.

HGV Driver

Salary: £27,762 per annum

  • An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, self-motivated person to be a full-time permanent HGV Driver/Loader Operative. The successful applicant will be required to undertake general HGV driving duties concerned with waste collection, street cleansing, grounds maintenance services, beach cleaning and safety, and winter maintenance. Training where required will be given prior to any duty instructions. 
  • Essential skills: • Full UK Heavy Goods Vehicle License Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) within 6 months
