Blackpool In Bloom
BLACKPOOL IN BLOOM IS BACK!
Since 2001, Elaine Smith MBE has managed the Blackpool in Bloom competition after years of personal participation. In 2010, Elaine was joined by Betty Bradford and her late husband Danny. Together, they helped the competition grow with an enhanced award ceremony, new categories, and the building of lasting friendships, encouraging more individuals and businesses to get involved. In 2023, Enveco NW took over the competition, continuing its legacy.
The competition celebrates civic pride and highlights the incredible efforts of Blackpool’s residents, businesses, and community members who dedicate their time and care to creating beautiful outdoor spaces.
Enveco is thrilled to host the competition for the third consecutive year following two incredibly successful years.

Our judges will evaluate entries based on the following criteria:
Street Scene Approach
Judges will assess how the front of your property contributes to the overall appearance of the street. Is the area clean, well-maintained, and free from weeds and litter?
Design
How is your garden laid out? What is its main purpose—relaxation, growing produce, or both? Does the design include different sections for various uses, such as a quiet zone? Is there a consistent use of themes, materials, or planting styles throughout the space?
Colour
How is colour used in your garden? Is there a mix of colours or a specific colour theme? Does it enhance the overall look and feel of the garden?
Impact
What impression does your garden make? Judges will look at your choice of plants, use of colour, and the overall design to see how everything comes together to create a visual impact for visitors.
Maintenance
Whether it’s a formal layout or a wildlife-friendly garden, how well is it maintained? Are features like fences and pathways in good condition? Is the space cared for consistently?
Environmental Considerations
What steps have you taken to support the environment? This could include planting for wildlife, water conservation efforts, composting, or other sustainable practices.
Comments
Have you faced and overcome any challenges while developing your garden? What does your garden mean to you and those around you? Is there any involvement from the local community?
