Accessible Waste & Recycling

Making Waste & Recycling Easier for Everyone

At Enveco, we’re committed to making waste and recycling information clear and accessible for all Blackpool residents.

We’ve listened to feedback from our community and recognised the need for simpler waste disposal information, especially for people with learning difficulties, dementia, or those who speak English as a second language.

That’s why we’ve launched a new initiative to improve waste education and engagement across Blackpool.

We’ve collaborated with a Makaton Sign Language specialist to create an easy-to-understand guide that uses Makaton symbols to help residents know what goes in each bin. We have also just launched a range of Braille stickers available to help residents identify their bins and food waste caddies more easily.

The stickers have been designed to help residents independently identify their containers and support the correct use of waste and recycling services.

What’s Available?

  • A Makaton-approved waste guide with symbols
  • A magnetic, interactive sorting game for schools

Available stickers include:

  • A6 Braille stickers for wheeled bins
  • Small Braille stickers for indoor food waste caddies
  • Small Braille stickers for outdoor food waste caddies

Engaging with Schools & Communities

Our initiative goes beyond leaflets! We’ve introduced a magnetic, interactive game for schools, where students physically sort recyclable and non-recyclable waste.

Some teachers and social workers are now receiving Makaton training to help spread awareness!

If you work with schools or community groups and want to get involved, get in touch!
