Fly-Tipping: Report It, Prevent It, Stop It

Fly-tipping damages our neighbourhoods, harms the environment and costs money to clean up.

Dumping waste illegally is a serious offence, and action can be taken against anyone responsible. As highlighted in our campaign artwork, successful prosecutions can lead to fines of up to £50,000 and/or imprisonment.

Don’t risk a fine

If you are paying someone to remove waste from your property, always make sure they are a licensed waste carrier and ask for a Waste Carriers License.

If your waste is later found fly-tipped and you did not take reasonable steps, you could still face enforcement action.

Need to dispose of household items legally?

We offer a range of convenient services to help residents dispose of waste responsibly:

  • Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC): Use the recycling centre for many household items and materials.
  • Report Fly-Tipping:  Have you seen waste dumped? Report it so action can be taken.
  • Waste on Private Land: For information and advice if waste has been dumped on private land.
