Job Outline: Multi-Skilled Maintenance Technician Vacancy 

Salary: Grade 3 – £30,971

Location: Blackpool – Layton Depot, Plymouth Road, FY3 7HW

Closing Date: 9th October – Noon 

Contract: Permanent 

We have an exciting opportunity for a multi-skilled maintenance technician to join our team to carry out the installation, inspection, repair and maintenance of alley gates, playground equipment, outdoor facilities and associated grounds, ensuring assets remain safe, secure and operational. The post holder will undertake practical maintenance, basic groundworks, grounds maintenance and DIY tasks under the direction of the Facilities & Project Manager, in accordance with health and safety requirements.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Repair and maintain alley gates, fencing, posts, locks, hinges and associated fixtures.
• Carry out basic groundworks including digging, excavation, post installation, concreting and making good surfaces.
• Inspect, maintain and undertake minor repairs to playground equipment and associated facilities.
• Identify damaged, worn, loose or unsafe equipment and report or make safe in line with the playground inspection and maintenance procedure
• Assist with the installation and removal of playground equipment, gates and outdoor fixtures.
• Carry out general facilities maintenance and DIY tasks including basic carpentry, fitting, fixing, painting, repairs and day to day depot cleanliness
• Undertake basic grounds maintenance including grass cutting, strimming, hedge cutting, weeding, vegetation clearance and general tidying.
• Safely use and maintain hand tools, power tools and grounds maintenance equipment.
• Move materials, equipment and stock safely and support contractors where required.
• Comply with all health & safety procedures, use appropriate PPE and ensure work areas are safe for colleagues and members of the public.

About You

Essential 

• Full UK Driving Licence
• Relevant practical experience in maintenance, groundworks, construction or a similar hands-on role
• RPII Operational Inspection qualification (or willingness to complete within 12 months)

Desirable 

• NVQ Level 2 in Building Maintenance Multi-Trade Repair and Refurbishment Operations or equivalent trade-specific qualification
• Plant Operator Certificates
• HGV License
