The cost of M.O.T is just £50 per vehicle (free re-test within 10 working days if needed).

To book your taxi inspection contact Blackpool Council’s Licensing team on 01253 478343.

If the vehicle passes inspection, you will be issued a certificate of compliance. Otherwise, the relevant work must be carried out and the vehicle brought back for a re-test before the certificate can be issued.

How To Dispose Of Commercial Waste?

Knowing how to dispose of commercial waste can be difficult, so we are here to guide and assist local business owners in Blackpool and beyond on the correct way to do so. 

Let’s Break Down The Dos And Don’ts

Do

  • Sign up to regular collections with an appropriately sized bin for your needs
  • Enquire about our commercial waste services
  • Ensure you receive a waste transfer note, to show any parties that may ask where you rubbish goes
  • For bigger items such as white goods, furniture and electronics etc., please contact us for a Neat Inspection and quote, to see what items we can remove for you

Don’t

  • Don’t go to the HWRC (Household Waste Recycling Centre) to dispose of any waste even waste from your living quarters if your address is your commercial business 
  • Don’t put the incorrect items in your bin, such as wood, carpets, metal, and rubble, please contact us for a Neat Inspection and quote, to see what items we can remove for you

What Commercial Waste Do We Collect?

Depending on your needs, Enveco offer the below three types of waste collections:  

General Waste Containers

Our container sizes range from 240 litres up to 1280 litres and are for non-recyclable waste such as: 

  • Food waste
  • Juice cartons
  • Wrapping paper or card with foil
  • Wallpaper
  • Pet waste and cat litter
  • Any plastic such as, carrier bags, fast food packaging such as pizza or burger boxes
  • Polystyrene
  • Plastic toys
  • Any other plastic
  • Tetra style pack

Please do not put any electrical items, paint, asbestos, rubble, soil, plasterboard or any other hazardous waste inside your bin.

Bags of general waste left outside of your container will not be collected and they may be considered litter and you could be issued with a fixed penalty notice.

Recycling Containers

Our Recycling bins sizes are 240 litres and 360 litres and are for recyclable plastic bottles, pots, tubs, trays, glass jars/bottles and tins such as: 

  • Cans  
  • Food tins (bean tins, biscuit tins) 
  • Aluminium foil 
  • Foil trays 
  • Aerosols including deodorant cans and air fresheners  
  • Glass bottles of any colour 
  • Glass jars of any colour  
  • Plastic bottles 
  • Solid lids on pots tubs and trays 
  • Pots (yogurt, soup) 
  • Tubs (food, margarine, ice cream) 
  • Trays/punnets (raw meat or ham trays, take-away trays, fruit /veg trays) – please remove any plastic film 
  • Chocolate and biscuit tubs and trays 
  • Other clear plastic packaging 
  • Plant pots – please remove plants and soil 

Cardboard Container

Our Cardboard / Paper bin sizes are 240 liters up to 1280 liters and are for cardboard and paper waste such as:  

  • Brochures and catalogues (Recyclable card and paper only- without coating)  
  • Cardboard packaging e.g. shoe boxes, egg boxes, appliance packaging – Large boxes need to be broken down and folded so we can collect them. Please remove any polystyrene and sellotape 
  • Directories e.g. Yellow Pages 
  • Envelopes, any colour and windowed 
  • Greeting cards 
  • Junk mail 
  • Newspapers and magazines (Recyclable card and paper only- without coating) 
  • Office paper

Waste Management And Education

Helping To Manage Blackpool’s Waste!

As part of Blackpool Council’s commitment to waste management, every household in the town has access to a grey-lidded bin, a blue-lidded bin, a brown sack, a red sack, or a seagullproof sack depending on your location.  

Help collections run smoothly by:   

  • Presenting wheeled bins by 7.00am on your collection day   
  • Presenting red sacks by 7.00am on your collection day  
  • Place all waste inside it’s designated bin with the lid closed  
  • Label your bins with your address  

What Is Collected?

We can collect recyclable and general waste, green waste, and textiles. Together with our local community, we can all work towards reducing the number of recyclable items entering our landfills and preserving the environment for future generations.

When?

Households with wheeled bins have a waste collection every week – one week for recycling and the following week for general household waste. 

Households with red sacks or seagull proof sacks have a weekly collection of general waste, recycling can be taken to your local recycling point or the HWRC (Household Waste Recycling Centre). 

By adhering to this schedule, we are helping our residents become more aware of their environmental footprint.

The 3 R’s: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

The 3 R’s- are the three cornerstones of a sustainable society. By reducing our consumption, reusing items whenever possible, and recycling responsibly, we can all make a positive impact on the environment.  

We place great emphasis on these 3 R’s and invite everyone to do their part in reducing waste and promoting sustainability. We have created some helpful tips to help you start your Reduce, Reuse, Recycle journey. 

Reduce

There are several ways to reduce waste, such as meal planning and pre-cooking can help cut costs and waste, but it all depends on your situation and what works for you.  

Here are our top 3 simple suggestions for cutting waste: 

1. Use a reusable bottle/cup for drinks on-the-go 

When leaving your home, fill your bottle up with your favorite drink, to curb the need to purchase a drink on the go.  

2. Take your own bags shopping 

Try to create the habit of taking your own bags shopping. Useful tip: Write, take shopping bags on the top of your shopping list as a reminder and this will stop the need from purchasing any while you are out. Your kitchen sink cupboard will thank you for it.  

3. Switch to paperless billing 

If this is an option, let’s lessen the volume of mail piling up at the front door. Spend a night making the switch to electronic billing.

Did you know, buying secondhand items and donating used goods have major benefits for the environment?

By purchasing pre-loved items and donating your own, you can save money, help reduce unnecessary packaging waste, support local businesses, and find unique items. In addition to that, donating used goods helps your community in many ways: it allows a new lease of life to the item being donated and helps create a more sustainable future.  

We are committed to promoting sustainability and invite everyone to consider reusing items whenever possible. Consider visiting our Re-use Shop at Bristol Avenue to donate items you no longer need or shop for secondhand goods – it could be an exciting experience!

Taking that little bit of extra time to separate waste is helping our planet more than we will ever know!

If none of our waste is recycled, then it will go directly into landfill. As waste breaks down in landfills, a poisonous gas called methane is released. This toxic gas, which is one of the main contributors to global warming and climate change, has been discovered to be over 25 times more dangerous than carbon dioxide.  

We can all help to ensure that our generation and future generations can continue to live and prosper on this wonderful planet by increasing our collective awareness of what can and cannot be recycled and by sorting our waste correctly.  

 

Winter Maintenance

Enveco deliver the winter gritting service on behalf of Blackpool Council ‘Highways Authority,’ known locally as Operation Snowdrop,” to provide a safer travelling environment for highway users and reduce traffic disruption. 

 

 

Gritting The Roads Of Blackpool!

The winter maintenance period runs from November until March each year, with an operational team able to respond and deliver services 24/7, under the direction of the Winter Service Duty Manager.

The Duty Manager monitors weather conditions, including detailed road sensor information, from the Met Office and local weather stations and deploys our gritting fleet if the forecast predicts ice or snow conditions. 

Rock salt (Grit) is used to treat the highway network as it lowers the freezing point of moisture on the road surface, stopping ice from forming and causing existing ice or snow to melt.

For grit to work most effectively it needs traffic to crush and spread it across the road. When it snows heavily at night, though a road is gritted the snow will often still settle. Unfortunately, that means for the first few drivers it may be slippery so extra care is required during quieter traffic periods. 

Gritting Areas

We are not able to grit all roads in Blackpool, so the service is prioritised based on primary routes and secondary routes. 

  • Primary route roads are treated within 4 hours of being notified of potentially hazardous conditions
  • Secondary route roads are treated during particularly severe or hazardous conditions, at the discretion of the Winter Service Duty Manager 

The main treatment includes commuter routes, linking north, south, east, and west of the Borough boundary, capturing bus routes, secondary shopping centres, town centre and pedestrian shopping precincts.

Unfortunately, there is not enough salt to spread on every road and pavement in Blackpool. We try to ensure that access is maintained to key transport routes and vital services such as doctors and schools.

Did you know there are several grit bins located around the town which are filled on a regular basis to enable people to grit roads and pavements. 

The government has produced a “Snow Code” advising householders and businesses how they can help by clearing ice and snow from pavements themselves.

Street Cleansing

Dedicated To Keep Blackpool Tidy!

Our Street Cleansing Service operates 365 days a year, from 6am to 6pm emptying over 1000 street litter bins, removing around 5,000 fly tips and cleaning 6 miles of beach and the seafront.  

The team also takes on other duties such as weed spraying, graffiti removal, removal of flyposting, recovery of dead animals, cleanups after road traffic collisions, and highway gritting functions during the winter period. All with the same vision to: “Keep Blackpool Tidy”.

Street Cleansing And NEAT Team

Our street cleansing and NEAT (Neighborhood Environmental Action Team) teams cover all of Blackpool wards, to achieve clean and well-presented streets.

They do this by:   

  • Regular inspections of every residential street in Blackpool and sweeping of the town centre streets daily
  • We have a dedicated team of staff who empty our litter bins throughout the day
  • An action team who clean up after large-scale events and work with the community to take pride in our town
  • Work to ensure our streets remain clean and litter free and we can issue fines or prosecute those who fly-tip or leave behind litter

How Can You Help?

We have a joint responsibility with Blackpool Council, as well as everyone in our community to ensure that our town is something we can all be proud of.

How can you help?  

  • Use the general waste and recycling bins  
  • Wrap chewing gum in its original wrapper and put it in the litter bin  
  • Not throwing your cigarette butts on the ground. Use an ashtray or litter bin  
  • Clearing up after your dog or any other animal when it fouls on the street, road, grass verges, or park area  
  • Get involved with Keep Blackpool Tidy and join one of our regular litter picks  

Report It!

Despite our best efforts, there are times when problems arise, and you are welcome to tell us about them.  

You can report: 

  • An untidy/littered street 
  • Graffiti on public land 
  • A syringe 
  • Overflowing litter bin 
  • A dead animal 
  • Request overgrown weeds to be sprayed

After you make a report

Once you report an issue it will be investigated.

If it is on land that the Blackpool Council control then it will be arranged to be cleared. Priority will be given to syringes, dead animals and offensive graffiti.

Blackpool Beach - Blackpool is a large seaside resort in the county of Lancashire on the northwest coast of England.

Beach Cleaning

Keeping Blackpool’s main beach area clean is a priority of our street cleansing service. This area stretches between North Pier and South Pier and receives daily cleaning from May to October. Outside of this period, daily inspections take place, and any large tidal debris is removed when necessary.

Weed Spraying

Our weed spraying treatments typically start at the beginning of April and continue until the end of September. We treat a total of 2,000 streets, adopted carriageways (where there is flagged pavement), all highways, footpaths, cut throughs and adopted alleyways. This is completed ward by ward and each course of treatment lasts approximately 8-12 weeks.

The price of £153.18 covers the cost of 50 commercial sacks, a 12-month waste transfer note, weekly collections and the disposal of your waste.

Enveco provides a pest control service on the behalf of Blackpool Council for domestic properties and commercial customers.

We are here to help. You will find all the information you need below relating to the treatments we offer, costs and contact information.

Our Domestic Services And Prices

Rodents (Rats and Mice)

From £96.40 for up to 3 visits by the pest controller for a 3-bedroom house. This price includes advice to prevent future infestations.

An additional £10 per bedroom will be charged for larger properties.

Insects (Ants and Fleas)

From £71.77 to cover a one-off for up to 6 rooms. Additional rooms will be charged £8.04 per extra room and the cost of insecticides used.

We do not treat woodworm beetles or bedbugs.

Bees and Wasps

From £61.58 to treat affected areas outside and inside.

We can’t treat locations higher than two stories tall, or attics that aren’t boarded.

Some types of bees can’t be treated as they are protected. Our Pest control officer will advise on the type of bee you have.

Full payment is required before an officer can attend.

There will be a charge of £21.42 if only advice is needed and no treatment.

We will contact you to confirm a refund of the difference.
