The Bag It, Bin It, Campaign!
Bag It, Bin It – Year 3 Launch
Date: Thursday, 30th October
Time: 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM
Location: Italian Gardens in Stanley Park
Just a quick update, due to the high winds and to make sure everyone stays safe, we’ve had to make a small change to our Bag It, Bin It launch event.
It will no longer take place at Lawson’s Field on Wednesday.
Instead, we’ll now be at the Italian Gardens in Stanley Park on Thursday, 30th October, at the same time 10:00am to 12:30pm.
Thanks for your understanding. We’re really looking forward to seeing everyone there!
We’re back for another year of Bag It, Bin It! Blackpool’s campaign to reduce dog fouling and promote responsible dog ownership. Now entering its third year, the campaign continues to build momentum, aiming to keep our streets, parks and open spaces tidy.
Why This Matters
As the darker evenings return, the risk of dog fouling increases. Not only is it unpleasant, but it’s also a health hazard and a persistent issue in our community. That’s why the message remains clear: Do the Right Thing – Bag It, Bin It.
What to Expect from This Year’s Campaign
Street Stencils Return
We will be spraying Bag It, Bin It” stencils in high footfall areas, including popular walking routes and resident-requested locations. These stencils act as visible reminders and typically last three to six months. Residents can also request a stencil to be placed near their home via an online form below.
Active Engagement from Enforcement Officers
Enveco NW officers, working alongside Blackpool Council, will be engaging directly with dog walkers throughout the campaign. They’ll be checking whether individuals have the means to pick up.
If you’re walking a dog, you are legally required to carry the means to pick up. Officers will approach walkers and may issue:
-
A formal warning to those without the means to pick up
-
A £100 Fixed Penalty Notice if someone is seen failing to clean up after their dog
-
A fine to anyone who receives a second warning and is found without bags again
While education remains important, there is a zero tolerance for those who fail to meet their responsibilities.
Competition: Recognising Responsible Owners
The popular “Do the Right Thing” competition returns this winter. Every month from November to January, responsible dog owners will be in with a chance to win a £50.00 dog food voucher and a feature on our website. If dog walkers are spotted either picking up after their dog or having the means to do so, they will be given a competition card, which they will be able to upload and have a chance to win.
This is our way of celebrating those who lead by example and help Keep Blackpool Tidy.

How YOU Can #Getinvolved
If you are a dog walker, please pick up after your dog and ensure you have the means to pick up.
Often the autumn and winter nights divert dog owners to exercise their dogs closer to home, through residential streets, so if you don’t pass a bin please take it home or change your routes.
If you find a lot of dog fouling in your area request a dog stencil to encourage dog walkers to do the right thing using the below form, or you can report dog fouling using this link!
