Job Outline: Grounds Maintenance Operative (Gardener/Groundsman)

Salary: £29,982 – 39 hours per week

Working Hours: Monday to Friday

About the role:

We have an exciting opportunity for a groundman to join our team to carry out a wide range of horticultural, sports turf tasks, hard/soft landscaping and infrastructure maintenance within the Grounds Maintenance Service areas of Parks, Green Open Spaces, Sports Surfaces, Tree Stock and Playground Areas.

About you:

We are looking for someone with:

  • Formal Industry Recognised Qualification in a Grounds Maintenance-related field
  • A full UK driving licence

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To undertake the maintenance requirements of all Grounds Maintenance service areas to include, fine turf, pruning, planting, weeding, fertilizer/chemical applications, mowing, litter picking, line-marking, tree works, playground inspections/maintenance, hard and soft landscaping, use of multiple hand tools, powered tools and small plant and machinery
  • To undertake planned or reactive work under supervisory instruction, or by own initiative/self-motivation, following industry best practice techniques
  • To ensure compliance with all relevant Health & Safety information and instructions
  • To ensure that all operational tasks are carried out to the highest standards
  • Ability to react and plan work accordingly in line with seasonal variations
  • To ensure sports surfaces meet industry guidelines on their markings
  • To ensure play areas on visual inspections meets RPII standards of safety and liaison with Playground Technician to ensure legislative compliance
  • Involvement in the operational best practice methods across any designated Parks and Green Open Space within the Borough
  • To maintain, submit records required by employer, e.g. pesticide application records, playground inspection sheets, driver signing on/off sheets, drivers defect books, timesheets, clock cards, sports pitch inspection sheets and any other associated work-based records
  • To assist in maximizing outcomes of quality standard awards such as Green Flag, Britain in Bloom
  • To have a flexible attitude and undertake out of hours work if necessary
  • To undertake training and development that is relevant to the post

Enveco is looking for a suitable and reliable person to join our team as an HGV Driver.

About the role

We are looking for a suitable and reliable person to join our team as a Driver/Loader. You will be working as part of the collections team and collecting waste and recycling from various locations within and around Blackpool.

Driving of HGV and all other vehicles or heavy plant and machinery, including specialist equipment or trailers. To include-: Refuse Collection Vehicles, Mechanical Excavators, Tele Handler, JCB Loading Shovels, Gritters, Hook Loader skip vehicles, tractors, mowing machines, vans, tipping vehicles and quad bikes

  • The use of trailers and other towed equipment
  • Completion of all relevant documentation associated with driving duties and compliance with transport regulations
  • Carry out all vehicle and ancillary equipment safety including basic maintenance topping up of fluids etc
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the vehicle cab and external appearance, as required, using a hosepipe and power washers
  • Maintain regular communication with administration office/supervisors, as required, for further instruction of confirmation of work completed
  • Completion of daily and weekly documents, time sheets, and work completion records

Operatives Duties

  • Assist in the collection of waste including wheeled bin receptacles, contained waste, loose waste, fly-tipped waste, dead animals, spillages of any type, hazardous waste such as used syringes, dog fouling, excrement, all other forms of highway or tideline debris
  • To clear up any wind-blown waste once presented and waste dropped during the collection process or waste deposited at collection points during the working day and any other litter.
  • Use of small hand-held tools and mowers to carry basic other maintenance, weed treatment, painting, pressure washing, pothole repairs, manual gully emptying, etc
  • General duties including street cleansing, refuse collection, grounds maintenance, parks, grass verge, and green open space maintenance using non-mechanical equipment meaning rakes, spades, hoes, brush, shovel, litter pickers, and hoops, to remove litter and detritus (silt), weeds, dog fouling, beach, and tidal litter etc.
  • Delivery of waste receptacles, information leaflets, letters, and other forms of service communication
  • Ensure that duties are carried out by established safe working practices following guidance on risk assessments provided
  • Contribute to the services ‘Eyes and Ears’ approach to environmental impacts such as litter, dog fouling, fly posting, fly-tipping, and other environmental impacts that impact keeping Blackpool safe and tidy
  • Act as an ambassador for the service

About you

  • Full UK Heavy Goods Vehicle License
  • Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) within 6 months
  • Considerable knowledge of road use regulations for driving activities
  • Considerable experience of driving vehicles over 3.5 tonne
  • Experience of HGV driving over 7.5 tonne
  • Ability to deal with customers in a polite and friendly manner
  • Ability to lift and carry on a frequent and repetitive basis and walk considerable distances
  • Good communication skills
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills
  • Ability to undertake duties in a physical role
  • Experience in multi drop collections and deliveries
  • Experience in being able to carry out physical tasks related e.g. Emptying litter bins, removal of accumulated refuse and litter, removal of bulky waste, and clearance of storm debris
